What drives element selection.
- 01Semiconductor ultrapure targets <1 ppt for critical metallic and ionic contaminants — multi-pass RO plus EDI/CDI polishing is standard.
- 02Pharmaceutical WFI and PW systems demand USP/EP-aligned documentation and validated cleaning procedures.
- 03Selective separation via NF replaces softening and enables specialty fractionation upstream of polish.

When to choose what.
For high-rejection RO ahead of EDI or IX polishing, choose between SW-HR (where TDS warrants seawater chemistry) and BW-HR for brackish feeds. Selective ion fractionation, NF-led softening, and specialty separations are NF-HR or NF-HP duties — the rejection-vs-flux balance is tunable to the recovery target. Where energy cost dominates the ultrapure-pretreatment economics on low-TDS feed, ULP elements feeding EDI is the standard low-pressure architecture.
