What drives element selection.
- 01Variable industrial feed water — BW for stable feeds, FR for high-organic or high-SDI streams, NF for selective separation duties.
- 02Fouling drives feed-spacer selection: 34-mil spacers trade a small amount of active area for fouling tolerance and longer CIP intervals.
- 03Typical recovery 75–85% for single-pass industrial RO; concentrate-staging extends total system recovery.
- 04Cost-per-cubic-meter sensitivity makes ULP and XULP attractive where feed TDS allows — meaningful pump-energy reduction at scale.
- 05Process-specific quality: boiler feed, CIP water, and microelectronics polishing each have distinct rejection and silica targets.
When to choose what.
For standard industrial RO on conventional brackish feed, the BW series is the workhorse. Where biofouling or organic loading is the dominant risk, specify the FR series and consider a 34-mil feed spacer. NF is the right call for selective separation — softening, color removal, or partial-desalting where full salt rejection is not required. ULP and XULP belong in low-TDS industrial duty where pumping cost dominates lifecycle economics.
