Wastewater Reuse & Recovery
Membrane elements for water reuse, zero-liquid discharge, and resource recovery from challenging waste streams.
Wastewater Reuse & Recovery membranes.
OSPURA membranes are deployed on large-scale reuse and zero-discharge projects. One of Asia's largest secondary effluent treatment plants uses our fouling-resistant FR-8040-400(34) elements. An electroplating wastewater zero-discharge facility in a metal ecological park uses hundreds of FR and SW elements, as does a large coal-chemical zero-discharge installation. Multiple landfill-leachate treatment systems also run on OSPURA elements.
On the resource-recovery side, Wave Cyber is a designated quality supplier to leading lithium-extraction enterprises and supports salt-lake lithium-extraction systems with hundreds of NF-8040-400-HR and BW-8040-400 elements. Wave Cyber's own DLE systems extend this capability into integrated lithium-brine processing.
For engineers scoping reuse, ZLD, or lithium-brine RO membrane procurement, OSPURA gives a documented installed base on the hardest membrane duty in the industry — high-fouling, high-recovery, and ion-selective separation systems.
What drives element selection.
- 01Fouling is the dominant challenge; element selection should default to fouling-resistant constructions on any reuse duty.
- 0234-mil feed spacers trade a small amount of active area for substantial fouling tolerance and CIP-interval extension.
- 03Recovery 70–80% typical for reuse RO; ZLD second-stage and brine-concentrator systems push total recovery above 95%.
- 04Pretreatment is heavy — MBR or UF upstream is assumed for industrial reuse trains.
- 05Resource-recovery niches (lithium brine, specialty separation) are NF-led duties where selective ion rejection drives economics.
When to choose what.
For MBR-effluent reuse, specify FR or BW with a 34-mil feed spacer to handle residual organic loading and biological carry-over. Industrial mixed-fouling streams default to the FR series. ZLD second-stage and brine-concentrator positions use BW or FR rated for high TDS and high pressure. Resource recovery — including lithium brine — is NF territory, where NF-8040-400-HR balances rejection and flux. For integrated lithium-brine processing, Wave Cyber's DLE Systems pair the right membrane with the recovery train.
